The baptismal covenant calls us to raise up children in the way they should go. A
disability does not excuse our churches from obligations and commitments. The UCC DM established children and youth institute will be multifaceted, including all aspects of
education. It will charge the church to internalize Christ’s words, to apply them to our
children and youth with disabilities, and to mandate participation in the wider and local
church.
Let all UCC members affirm the biblical and theological assumptions of the wholeness
of all people and fully support persons with disabilities as they contribute to and
participate in the church’s ministry and life.
